We Without Wings - Under the Innocent Sky

(Alright, if you don't like spoilers don't read anymore because you'll just get pissed and punch your screen.)

Summary:
So you decided to keep reading? Well for those of you who haven't seen it and don't really care about spoilers and for those of you who just want a recap let me give you a little summary. When you start to watch this anime it looks almost like any other harem/ecchi anime. Instead of having 1 boy with a bunch of girls, there are 3 boys. The first boy we meet is a highschool student name Takashi. Takashi is a boy who likes to escape reality and go to his own world, in which the name I can't remember oops. Takashi has a girlfriend, if you can call her that, but he isn't really good with the lady's. Well to be honest he isn't too good with anyone hes a total pushover. Well, the next guy we meet is Shūsuke and he's not really great with the lady's either. Shūsuke is very kind and friendly and works/hangs around a café all the time. Lastly we meet Hayato or Drac as everyone calls him because he only comes out at night, creepy. Drac is tough and even rude sometimes. Oh, but don't think you'll just be watching the lives of these 3 guys no there's a plot twist! You see those 3 guys are actually 1 person. Well you could call them alters if you want to be technical or just call them personalities. The main character(s) actually has Dissociative Identity Disorder which was formerly known as Multiple Personality Disorder. Just to give you a little background, this disorder is literally when a person develops a  "split" personality usually due to trauma. I'm honestly not to clear about this but it hints that his mother was abusive which would have been the trauma. Those 3 guys embody a boy name Yoji. Yep, Yoji is the "original" person who wanted to forget about his childhood which created his other personalities. In the end the personalities learned to coexist!

Review:
Alright, now that the boring summary is over let's get to the review part, yay! Okay, so I love psychology, it is one of my favorite things in the world, maybe. I already knew a lot about DID and when I heard about an ecchi anime that dealt with DID I had to watch it. Plus, have you seen the funimation preview, one word panties. I was in all honesty expecting it to depict DID wrong but I was really surprised how well they depicted DID. You do not need to be an expert on multiple personalities to get this show. I knew right before I started watching it that it was about a boy with that disorder but for those who don't already know it could be a bit confusing. Its not until episode 4 that it is completely clear that they are the same person. I truly loved how, let's call him Yoji, Yoji's little sister would give each personality a different breakfast because she knew what they liked, it was sweet.

Of course I love the show because of the whole multiple personality thing but can we talk about Alice? Alice is this little girl who can't speak Japanese well or in my case English I guess because dub...? I got another word for ya, lolicon. Wait, no I have two words for you, lolicon fanservice (I feel like that's more than 2). Okay, barely fanservice but I mean we get to see her panties a few times. Don't worry I liked it, she's the reason I kept watching (not true)! Anyway, there is just so much ecchi in this it almost cross the line to hentai in that one episode, episode 8 to be exact. Go on go watch that episode, ya perv... Then there is the whole fantasy that Takashi goes to which confused me at first. As someone who is a maladaptive daydreamer when Asuka, Takashi's girlfriend, was yelling at Takashi and telling him his fantasy world wasn't real I felt like she was yelling at me. So, yea I also love the anime for the cheesy fantasies Takashi had.

The very beginning of the last episode made me a bit uncomfortable. It hinted that Yoji's mother was abusive. Later we find out his mother is now dead but because Yoji hurt her he wanted to forget about his childhood. Now, I was very happy about the ending! Plus the first scene in the first episode is a "distorted" more pervy version of the last scene in the last episode which is the real version. I just love when they show you the ending first.

All and all or is it all in all... This anime was really one of my favorites.. For 12 episodes they did a lot and even though it was a bit confusing at times I really enjoyed this anime. It wasn't just for the boobs and panties, but that's why I started watching, it has a great plot. I said plot... I really would recommend it to anyone. Okay, maybe not a 10 year old no need for them to watch almost porn.

  1. Can you help me understand why each personality changes his face? Does he really appear as a different person to certain people?

    1. I think the reason why he’s depicted as different characters is because that’s the way how he sees himself, since this coming from his perspective rather than other characters. I could be wrong though

    2. So what you are saying is, I SHOULD feel very confused bc while at first it feels like this is going nowhere with a bunch of random characters I can’t connect with since not 1 gets the “mc” role, but basically everyone gets the mc role.
